Code of conduct

  • All motorised leisure craft must not approach any bathing, diving, surfing or canoeing area, staying a minimum of 440 yards off shore whilst outside of Cullercoats Harbour, except in the case of an emergency when it is permissible to approach the shore in a controlled manner away from other beach users.
  • All motorised leisure craft must be launched in the designated area within Cullercoats Harbour.
  • North Tyneside Council and its agents, reserve the right to restrict launching and use if it is deemed necessary for safety reasons.
  • The Council and its agents reserve the right to impose zoning in the interests of health and safety.
  • Refuelling is to be carried out in the launching zone only. No fuel or oil containers are to be left on the beach or surrounding areas.
  • All vehicles must be removed from the beach area and all access points to it. Trailers may be left on the beach provided they are in a safe location and not obstructing access to other beach/site users and emergency vehicles.
  • Any deliberate harassment or nuisance caused to other sea/beach users may result in the offenders launch permit being revoked and any future use of the site being prohibited.
  • North Tyneside Council or its agents accept no liability for any injury or death of any person, or damage to property of any person using or operating a motorised leisure craft or their agents or invitees, or any other person, except where such acts or injuries involve negligence on the part of the Council and/or its agents.
  • All motorised leisure craft users are advised to at all times take/use appropriate safety equipment whilst launching from Cullercoats Harbour.
  • All motorised leisure craft users are advised to keep engine noise to a minimum.
  • Motorised leisure craft includes, but is not limited to the following :-
    - Personnel Watercraft.
    - Speed Boats.
    - Leisure Boats.
  • It is paramount that users of motorised leisure craft pay respect to other water users, to those on the shoreline, and to the environment.
  • Motorised leisure craft owners are expected to maintain their craft to a safe, seaworthy standard. Failure to do so may result in access to the launch area being denied.
  • Personal Watercraft users should leave the beach and harbour area in single file, travelling within the agreed speed limits.
